IMO the race yesterday was awesome, right up until the Ryan Briscoe crash. That could have been horrible. Luckily everyone walked away. The racing was some of the best racing I have seen in a long time.
I can’t believe there was only 3,000 people in the stands though, that is insane. Hopefully they can figure everything out and get Indycar racing back where it was in the 90’s before the whole IRL shit. It is a shame to me that they can barely get enough cars to fill the Indy 500 field.
Here are the highlights from yesterday’s race.

I have always been an F1 fan, and not much of a “new” IndyCar fan (I liked CART better back in the day), especially ovals. But with the doldrums that F1 is in right now, I’ve started watching more Indycar. And yes, that race was incredible. I haven’t seen the end yet (I recorded it and watched it after World Cup), but I’ll watch tonight. Pretty incredible what those guys are doing at 200 mph. Now, if they could just get rid of Paul Tracy in the booth....

My bad if I ruined the end of the race for you. I just added a spoiler tag.
Anywho, ya Paul Tracy, he does know what he is talking about but, he is pretty annoying.
IMO, they need to have David Hobbs, Steve Matchett, and a someone that isn’t Lee Diffey. Maybe a younger former Indycar driver, Dario Franchitti would be awesome but he isn’t available. There is nothing wrong with Diffey but they should have a former driver in the booth to add some recent experience to Hobbs and Matchett.
It is awesome to me how excited Hobbs and Matchett get during the Indycar races. I thought Matchett was going to have stroke or heart attack yesterday. They are kind of boring during the F1 races because well, F1 is kind of boring. But, they are great during Indycar, they are probably the only announcers in racing that make watching the races better.

I like
what
Diffey has to say, but I get tired of his delivery after a while. And I think Matchett and Hobbs are great, but yes, during an F1 race they constantly have to find something to talk about because the only interesting thing that is happening these days are the pit stops. When the only passing that is taking place is being done so while one car is sitting still, there is a problem.

“I can’t believe there was only 3,000 people in the stands though, that is insane.”
I watched the last 45 minutes or so. The clean ups coudl have gone a little faster but that is the way racing is intended to be. The Indycar drivers need to learn how to handle it. But that kind of racing puts people in the stands and up until yesterday, Indycar hadn’t had that kind of suspense in the last four laps in a long time.
There were easily 10 cars that had opportunity to win with 4 laps to go. The race end was determined on lane choices, opportunities for mistakes, and trade-offs between tire changes and track position.
